Why we're building this.

Walk into any school in Britain and you'll see something strange. The teachers are extraordinary. The pupils are clever and curious. The leadership cares deeply. And then you look at the software — registers in one system, gradebooks in another, parent comms over email, lesson plans in Word documents, behaviour logs on paper.

The technology that runs schools is two decades behind the technology that runs everything else. Most of it was built for compliance, not for people. Teachers fight their tools to get through the week.

We started Vicerta because AI changes what's possible. The tedious work — the planning, the marking, the reporting, the scheduling — can finally be assisted by software that understands the work. Not a chatbot bolted onto an old platform. A platform built around the work itself.

Pencil is our first surface. The Vicerta LMS is what comes next. We're starting with British schools because we understand the curriculum, the procurement cycles, and the language. We'll grow from there — but we want to do this one piece at a time, properly, with schools shaping the build.

We want to give teachers their evenings back, and give heads a school they can actually run from one screen.
